Is Your Company Contact Info Updated?

Updated: Sep 2, 2020

Here’s a short one, but important one. As we enter the new year, we do a few things like make resolutions; commit to saving more money, losing weight, or focusing on our health. But what about our businesses? When was the last time you’ve updated your contact information within a supplier diversity portal or with a company you want to do business with?

New year brings new opportunity, but those companies cannot contact you if you haven’t updated your info. As an minority owned business or woman owned business, it is so important that your information is current because often times you'll only get one shot at a buyer contacting you and if your phone number is different or you’ve changed your email, they won't be able to reach you.

Or think about this. What if it’s through no fault of your own? What if the person at the organization you’re trying to gain business through transposed some numbers in your phone number or misspelled your email address or website in their database? They’ve been trying to reach you, but couldn’t get through, so they went with other suppliers. You would have no way of knowing this and would have lost an opportunity.

I say all this to say, reach back out and confirm that these organizations have your most current information. It’s a task easily forgotten, but so important. And think about it…it’s a moment for capitalization. Updating your info gives you another opportunity to possibly speak directly to buyers and see if there’s an opportunity for you to do business with them. So keep grinding but make sure you can be reached!
